Kamala Harris and Climate Policies
Are you relieved that Harris is now taking Biden's place for the Democratic nominee?
What is Kamala Harris' position on climate change policy and what is Kamala's climate plan? From what I can tell, it is similar to Joe Biden, but definitely better than Trump's.
With Kamala Harris, the Democrats have a chance to defeat Trump in the November 2024 election. A lot of politicians and voters were very concerned after the June presidential debate that Biden wouldn’t be able to hold his own. Voters were extremely concerned and many weren’t even sure that they would vote for Biden. For climate advocates, we can all agree that the Trump administration's climate record in his turn as President was pathetic. In fact, we went backwards in environmental protections.
I am just an armchair observer of politics, but it seems that the Trump campaign's strategy hinged on discrediting Biden in many categories, one being his age and/or agility. Now that Biden had conceded to advisors and stepped down from the presidential campaign it seems almost certain that we can all breathe a sigh of relief. With Biden, climate policy was in jeopardy because Trump's strategy was working. Biden's debate performance proved he lacked the stamina to go another 4 years in office.
Climate policies would most likely go down the drain again if America risked the ballot with a Biden versus Trump ballot.
This is why I am relieved. Biden has stepped down. With Kamala, we've got a chance- climate has a chance. Kamala Harris has a great record while in office. In fact, according to the League of Conservation Voters, Harris has a "near-perfect lifetime voting record" of voting and support- and passing environmental issues. (The Washington Post)
